Perry, originally based in England had a good grounding in horses, growing up and working for his father a dressage trainer who owned a number of successful riding centres in southern England. Perry went on to further his career in showjumping , riding for a number of renowned breeders and showjumping enthusiasts including, Fred Welch, Bedford Tyre Services, Cyril Light, Exton Stud, Wessex Vehicle Services, John Nicol, Headley Stud and Mark Samuels and laterly the late Christian and Christine Michielini in France.

In the late 90's Perry and Claire joined John and Tanya Nicol in the launching of the former Headley Stud in Newbury, the largest showjumping and dealing yard of that time. Perry, being the head competition rider enjoyed much success and gained invaluable experience, having the luxury of competing at top international level in Europe making many contacts and becoming well known for producing and selling young horses, many of which have gone on internationally.

Over the years Perry has built up an excellent reputation for producing and training young horses, many going on to be successful on the international circuit. 

In 2005 the Colgates made the move to France and after a short break from competing started to build ' Ecurie Goazily', which is growing by the day.and are endeavouring, together with the support of their owners to build up a team of International horses for the future ( click on Team Horses)

In France Perry  has been associated with the late Michielini family, the former owners of the Worlds leading event stallion ever, the great YARLANDS SUMMERSONG  having some of his progeny to produce and sell. (click on TEAM HORSES)
